Esteban Cabrera

Dad married Irma M. on September 26, 1966, later sealed on October 29,1971 at the Mesa, Arizona temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They raised six children. They were blessed with fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Dad had various jobs. In 1983, he started working for the United States Postal Service as a rural route carrier in La Feria, Mercedes, and Weslaco retired on April 30, 2015. Before that he was a butcher and a waiter at the McAllen Country Club.

Dad was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Dad served faithfully in many callings for the Church included Bishop, Branch president, High Council counselor, Missionary prep class, and many more. Esteban kept busy with yardwork and caring for Adrian who has been disabled since birth (48yrs). He Supported children and grandchildren in their lives and in their school activities. That we would collectively call him “Papa” as a sign of respect.

Dad is survived by his wife, Irma, Children- Carlos Ortega, Cutberto (Ana) Ortega, Lillian (Richard) Horrocks, Esteban (Dora), Alejandro (Patricia) and Adrian. His Siblings-Santos, Maria, Jesus, and Lucy (Jesse).

Dad is preceded in death by his mother Horacia, Olga sister, aunts, uncles and one-great granddaughter.

A visitation for Esteban will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 1PM to 9PM with a Celebration of Life from 6PM-8PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, TX 78559. A chapel service will occur Monday, October 21, 2024 at 9AM with a burial to follow at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.
