Angels came and wrapped Woodrow "Woody" W, Johnson in their arms and gently carried him into the waiting and loving presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. His long-awaited home going was finalized April 4th, 2022.
He was born to Sim and Barbara Johnson on January 15th, 1930 in London, Kentucky. He had 3 sisters and 4 brothers of which only 1 remains, Bert Edward of Tucson, Arizona.
He was married to the love of his life, Lois Jean Johnson, who remains, on August 17th, 1962. They raised and adored their 7 children, Sharon (Rocky) Henriques, Timothy, both of whom preceded him in death. Colleen (Randy) Spyker, Kokomo, Indiana. Randy went Home in June 2021. Dana (Doug) Stepler, Converse, Indiana, Chris (Darlene) Johnson, Logansport, Indiana, Joel Kevin Johnson, Kokomo, Indiana and Baron Johnson, Peru, Indiana. He enjoyed his 14 grandchildren, two of which preceded him in death, Nicholas and Sheena Stepler. He had 24 great grandchildren, one of which preceded him in death, Darren Glander. He had 4 great-great grandchildren and was awaiting the birth of his 25th great grandchild, who is due in May.
His special "Pal" was his toy poodle "King Midas". He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was in civil service at Fort Knox, KY during Desert Storm. He was an ordained minister who served as pastor, Evangelist, missionary and overseer during his 60+ years of ministering. He was a school teacher and master sewing machine mechanic. He was a golden glove boxing champion, was an avid Bible scholar, and enjoyed traveling, fishing, reading and helping others. He loved planting churches, and training young ministers. He truly was up and about his Father's business.
In his retirement he attended Victory Church of God. He made many friends along his life's journey, some who are welcoming him to his new home. Enjoy Heaven, we'll meet you soon.
A graveside service for Woodrow was held Friday, April 8, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Nevada Cemetery, Sharpsville, IN 46068.
A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 3pm at Victory Church of God, 2216 E 100 N, in Kokomo with Rev. Jay Walden officiating.
