Teresa “Terri” C. Bevington, 94, of Melbourne, FL and former resident of Kokomo, IN until 2018, entered her well-deserved, Heavenly rest on October 10, 2024. Born at home in Batavia, NY, on July 29, 1930, she was the daughter of Michael and Febronia Dyrbala. Terri was the eighth of nine children. On February 12, 1955, Terri married the late John Richard Bevington in Batavia and then moved to Kokomo shortly thereafter. She attended Sacred Heart School as a child then Batavia High School graduating in 1948, the first sibling in her family to do so. Terri obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Indiana University in 1969 followed by a Master’s Degree in Education in 1971. She taught at several schools in Kokomo, but her primary focus was, and always has been, God and her family.
Terri loved the Lord with all her heart and served Him her entire life whether it was as an active member of The Crusaders Sunday School class, creating magnificent costumes and assisting with church plays, or mentoring women. For many years, Terri led a Bible study once a week for the residents of a local nursing home. She was an active member of One Church in Kokomo until she moved to Melbourne, FL. She attended Calvary Chapel until her passing.
Terri loved people and to be around them. She was a wonderful and gracious hostess for many gatherings and never knew a stranger. She dressed impeccably at all times and had an outstanding sense of fashion. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society in both Kokomo and Melbourne. Terri babysat in the 1960s before becoming a teacher, and she loved her “kids” very much. Terri also had a love for all of God’s creatures, great and small. She loved her pets dearly and treated them like family. She would even carry spiders outside, a habit she passed on to her family.
Terri loved to travel whether it was visiting a foreign country, taking a cruise, or embarking on day trips to go shopping. Whether traveling with friends from church or family, she always made many memories and returned with hilarious stories of her adventures. Terri loved the outdoors and working in her yard. Her creativity shined in many areas of her life, and her yard was no exception.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Curtis (Olena) Bevington of Melbourne, FL, Allyson Bevington of Indianapolis, and Amy (Michael) Moss of Kokomo; grandchildren Anastasiya (Stanislav) Trapyline, Erica (Kurtis) Weasner, Ian (Michelle) Moss, Alexander (Ivory) Moss, Andrew Moss, and Isabella Moss; great grandchildren Victoria, James, Myla, and Lawrence Trapyline; Kyler Gray; Cooper, Brahm, and Bellamy Weasner; Eleanor, Lorraine, and James Moss; and Arthur Moss.
