Roberta Ann Swick, 92, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at her daughter’s residence in Greentown. She was born in Peru, Indiana on October 28, 1924 to the late Herbert and Helen (Siegfried) Rabe. Roberta graduated from Clay Township High School in Miami County in 1941. She married Roy Hedrick in 1941 and they were together for 20 years, and had three children. In 1980, she married Harry Mason Swick, and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2017. Roberta had worked for Delco Electronics in Kokomo for 30 years, retiring in 1985. Roberta was an active member of Jerome Christian Church in Greentown. She was also a member of the Union Jackson Home Extension Club until it disbanded, making candy and crocheting dish scrubbers and cloths to be auctioned, and distributed proceeds made to various charities throughout the county. Roberta also volunteered at the rescue mission and Rainbow Camp. She loved entering several different categories at the Howard County 4H Fair, and won several ribbons for her quilting, sewing, baking, candy making, and jams and jellies. She was famous at her church for her mac and cheese and rhubarb pies. She also enjoyed bowling and watching golf on TV. Roberta is survived by her three children, Terry Hedrick, Stephen (Pamela) Hedrick, and Rebecca Hulet; three stepchildren, John (Pam) Swick, James (Julie) Swick Sr., and Susan (Dale) Raines; a brother, David (Marie) Rabe; and a brother-in-law, George Bergman. Her grandchildren are Cindy Hedrick, David (Keri) Hedrick, Dale Hedrick, Tracy Sisneros Smith, Kelly (Shawn) McRae, Joshua (Amanda) Hedrick, Tracey (David) Robinson, and Toni (Cliff) Burns; great grandchildren, Zane Zook, Sam Torivo, Hailey Hedrick, Maycie Hedrick, Olivia McRae, Audrey McRae, Lawson McRae, Jackson Hedrick, Annaleigh Hedrick, Jameson Hedrick, Emily Robinson, Elise Robinson, Ethan Robinson, Craig Hulet, Bradley (Hollie) Burns, James (Elizabeth) Burns, Rob (Theresa) Burns, and Cliffy Burns; great-great grandchildren, Franki Groves Hulet, Zoey Burns, and Harper Burns. She was a step grandmother and step great grandmother to several and also had many nieces and nephews who referred to her as “Aunt Bert.” In addition to his parents and husband, Roberta was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Bergman, and a grandson, Mark Hedrick. A visitation for Roberta will be held on Tuesday, July 18th at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home in Kokomo from 10-12, with a funeral service immediately following at the funeral home. Roberta will then be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Donations in Roberta’s name may be made to Thy Will Ministries at Jerome Christian Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association of Indiana.
