Peggy Jean Richter

Peggy Jean Richter, 80, went Home to be with the Lord on June 13th, 2019. She was born to Paul and Helen Iliff on August 26th, 1938 in Peru, Indiana. She was a Peru High School graduate, class of 1957. She went on to work for Kokomo Center School Corporation as a librarian- she started the library at Roosevelt School. She also served at Bon Air, Darrough Chapel, and Head Start. Peggy married Jerry Barlow on November 2nd, 1956 and he preceded her in passing on June 5th, 1982. Later, she married Harry Richter on May 23rd, 1985, and he survives. Peggy was an avid member of Faith United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed attending the Dinner with Dining Divas. She also attended regular lunches with her cousins, the 685 Retiree Dinners, and the Teacher's Lunches. When she wasn't working, Peggy liked to cross-stitch. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Harry, Peggy also leaves behind her children Marcia (Jerry) Smith and Brian (Vicki) Barlow; siblings Patricia Thompson, John Iliff, Pauline Mace, sister-in-law Kathy Iliff, brothers-in-law Bill (Ellen) Richter, Earl (Kathy) Richter, and Richard (Reta) Barlow; grandchildren Chad (Jennifer) Barlow, Jeremy (Amber) Barlow, Adam Smith (Alyx), Brittany (Keith) Suter, and Derek (Katie) Smith; great-grandchildren Jordan, Rachael, Mackenzie, Connor, Victoria, and Cali Barlow, Hayley and Aubrey Suter, and Callen and Caden Smith. Peggy is preceded in passing by first husband Jerry Barlow; brothers Jack and George Iliff, brother-in-law Jim Mace, and sister-in-law Karen Kesler. Friends and family may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday June 19th at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 20th, also at the mortuary. Pastor Emily Gearhart and Pastor Ryan Sibray will officiate.
