Betty Jean Miller, 89, Kokomo, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Golden Living Center. She was born September 11, 1926, in Sharpsville, to Clarence and Edna (Davenport) DeWitt. On September 4, 1948, she married Earl Miller, Jr., and he preceded her in death.
She led a very simple and down to earth life. She was raised on a farm and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, country music, flowers and gardening. Betty always had a smile on her face. She was very active in her church and was a member of Eastern Star. She was always eager to look after the needs of her husband and children.
She is survived by four children, Linda (Ray) Miller, Sharpsville, Deanna Montgomery, Kokomo, Stephen (Karen) Miller, Indianapolis, and Carol (Mike) McGowan, Kokomo; grandchildren, Jeanette, Matthew and Nathan Grau, Charles Meacham, Elizabeth Montgomery, Matthew, Benjamin and Kara Miller, and Daniel and Sarah Haughn; great-grandchildren, Blake Grau and Arianna Meacham; sister-in-law, Celesta Dyar; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Lester, Kenneth, Doyle and Roscoe DeWitt.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Newton officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
