Artie Cecil McDonald, 88, Kokomo, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born August 29, 1925, in Warren, Texas, to Ward Howard and Dollie (Travis) McDonald. On July 24, 1964, he married Frances “Eylene” (Lambert) McDonald, and she survives. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a welder for 40 years before retiring. He enjoyed working, hunting, fishing, and doing things on the family farm, and he cherished being a grandpa. He was a member of the Plumber and Steamfitters Union Local 440 and the Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Artie D. McDonald; five step-children, Sandy Bevan, Karmel Ward, Gary D. Miller, Jennifer Byrd, and Deanna Colaizzi; one brother; Ward McDonald; four sisters, Lillian Tarver, Vivian Dorman, Ester Tucker, and Virgie Meigs; 18 grandchildren, Holly N. McDonald, Kailey A. McDonald, Riley M. McDonald, Larry J. Shrock, Troy Schrock, Shannon Johnson, Dawn Capps, Zachary E. Forest, Miranda Foust, Cody D. Miller, Cullen Miller, Emilie Miller, Mollie Miller, Nikki Dekkard, Raymond Byrd, III, Samantha Piel, Christina Ferren, and Victoria Colaizzi; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Luke McDonald and Howard Lee McDonald; and one sister, Laura Ann Harding. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Minister Joshua Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
