Moore Jr., William Elliott (Pete), age 64, left this world for his forever home in Heaven on Saturday, October 16th. He was alone when the Angels came for him, but he wasn't afraid because he was a "believer". Although we are hurting now, he is no longer in pain. All his worries and trials are over. He was no stranger to the rain, " He fought with the Devil, got down on his level, but he never gave in, so he gave up on him".
"I was always so proud of how he always managed to overcome every obstacle that he faced, he even gave up smoking this year. He was so much stronger than he appeared to be to most, but to those who took the time to get to know him, they loved and understood. He was my first born, my friend and my prayer partner. I already miss him."
Pete was preceded in death by his father W.E. Moore, Sr. (Bill); step-father, L.D. Parton; grandmother, Flossie Babb Long; grandparents, F.E. Moore, Sr. and Winnie Moore; great-grandparents, O.A. and Ethel Babb; and all of his Dad's siblings.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Parton; brothers, Steve and wife Mary, Jimmy Moore (part-time caregiver and helper); sister, Lisa Bailey; several nieces, nephews and cousins; dear friends, Kisha Alexander and Christine Davis; special neighbor, Elgin; several other caring and supportive friends, including caregivers and medical staff.
Pete was highly intelligent, probably "genius" level like his dad. He was a writer, having several of his poems published in anthologies in the 1980's. He was a Navy veteran, having served on the USS New. He loved music and movies and cared deeply for his family and close friends. Getting to know him might be difficult at first but was so worth it. He was one of a kind.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37919. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM.
