William Eugene (Gene) Monday III passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his residence. Gene battled Parkinson's disease for over 25 years. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church where as junior warden, he worked to preserve the stain glass windows. Gene followed his father's footsteps by owning and operating Gene Monday Realty. He took pride in his renovations of his properties. He was a graduate of Young High School class of 1958 and graduated from U.T. with a degree in business. Some of his favorite activities were selling Christmas trees with the Y's Men's Club and teaching safe boating with the Knoxville Power Squadron. Gene was a member of Gideon's International. He was preceded in death by parents, William Eugene and Florence Monday. Gene is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn (King) Monday; son, William Eugene Monday IV; daughter, Mary Kathryn Monday; brothers, Jim and Bob Monday. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at St. James Episcopal Church on Broadway, service will follow at 2:00 pm. Family and friends will go in procession to Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery for a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 1101 N.
