Knight, William E. LCDR (Retired) found peace in the arms of his heavenly father on April 19, 2014. Bill was 81 when he passed away at his home in Maryville, Tennessee, and is survived by his wife Sybil Martin Knight and sons Gil Knight and daughter-in-law Maggie, Greg Knight and daughter-in-law Cindee, and grandson Billy Knight. He was preceded in death by his brother Rudy Knight. Bill was a retired Naval officer who served his country for 21 years, and spent 15 years in Engineering Design at TVA. He was a longtime member of Woodlawn Christian Church where he served as a deacon and trustee for the church. As a founding member of the “Thursday Crew”, he devoted many hours of his electrical knowledge and expertise towards the planning, promotion and construction of the current house of worship. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. The family will receive friends at Woodlawn Christian Church in Knoxville on Tuesday, April 22 from 6:30pm-8:00pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 8:00pm, Dean Davis officiating. The interment will be at East Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery, John Sevier Highway, the date and time to be announced later.
