Wanda "Peggy" Lea Henderson, was born on May 13, 1933 in Kannapolis, N.C. to Fred and Eura Barlow. She passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 with her family by her side. Her husband of 60 years Gary "Red" L. Henderson , passed away in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her only sister Mildred Keller; brother-in-laws Bob Keller and Kenneth Deal and her mother and father-in-law John and Nola Henderson.
She loved to read her Bible first thing every morning. She was a devout Christian and a long time member of Galilee Baptist Church. Before Red passed away, they loved to travel throughout the United States with their best friends Shirley and Barney Grover. One of Peggy's favorite places to visit and to talk about was the Amish country. She read many books by Amish authors. She loved going out with her friends, church outings, and any occasion for family get togethers.
Peggy is survived by her 5 children Doug (Nan Ambrosy) Henderson of Iowa, Ann Henderlight, Lynne Crowell, Mark (Carol Ann) Henderson, Renee (Martin) Gray all of Knoxville. She has 8 grandchildren Cory Crowell, Casey (Jeff) Robison, Cody (Jenn) Crowell, Lauren (Zachary) Turner, Chris (Nikki) Henderson, Katie (Matt) Henderlight-Haldeman, Elizabeth (JT) Clifton, Zane Gray and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Betty Deal of Salisbury, N.C. and 4 loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Amanda, Rita, Paulette and Zhanna all members of Covenant Hospice for the incredible compassion they showed their mother and support they provided each of them. Thank you.
