Terry Eugene Gross

Terry E. Gross, age 71, passed away on November 23rd at Parkwest Medical Center due to complications from a stroke. Terry was born to Willie O. and David O. Gross in Memphis, TN on August 26, 1947. He began his career in retail at Goldsmith’s Dept. Store in Memphis and continued his career with moves to Kansas City, KS; Dayton, OH; and Charleston, WV. He and his family moved to Knoxville, TN in 1994 when he was hired by Proffitt’s Dept. Store. During his career, Terry was selected to serve on several buying committees which gave him numerous opportunities to travel to Europe and the Far East. He worked at MS McClellan & Co for twelve years until he retired in 2013. Terry loved being outdoors with the sun on his face. He loved the beach, day hikes with his family, working in the yard, planting flowers, and picnics at Cades Cove. He was preceded in death by his father and niece, Wendy Timbs. Survived by his mother, Opal; his wife of 41 years, Patricia; sons, Nicholas and Matthew; brother, Eddie (Debby); nephew, David (Renee); uncle, Floyd McCullough; brother-in-law, Ray Cannon (Edna); and many extended family members. A memorial service will be held in Memphis, TN at Memphis Funeral Home on December 15, 2018 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
