Stephen Allen Tokay passed away on November 25, 2023, in Karns, Tennessee at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Allen Tokai and his mother, Margaret Priscella Cselenyak Tokai, and many Aunts and Uncles and cousins. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 8, 1940.His family moved to California where Stephen graduated from Robert A. Millikan High School in Long Beach, California in 1960. In high school Stephen was a member of the track team (cross country), gymnastics, and the physics team.
Stephen attended college at Long Beach City College where he met his wife, Carol Sue Hunter, and they were married in Long Beach, California on September 5, 1964.After obtaining his AA degree in Civil Engineering, he spent his working life for the City of Anaheim, then for the City of Knoxville, Tennessee.
In 1989, Stephen and his wife, Carol, decided to make a new home in Karns, Tennessee. They settled into a farmhouse that was built in 1900, surrounded by nearly 5 acres of land. Stephen loved to be the caretaker of this wonderful property.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Hunter Tokay, sister, Sylvia Tokai Bovee (Gary), son, Stephen Gabor Tokai (Jennifer), Granddaughter, Stephanie Renee Tokai, and Grandson, Stephen Daniel Tokai, and the rest of his family and friends.
Many who have known him have said that he treated everyone like a good friend, always affable and enjoying the company of others. Stephen was an avid rock-hound, finding valuable rocks, which he would polish to make jewelry. He requested that his ashes be taken to the Mohave Desert.
