Mrs. Ruby J. Young

On 12/15/2022 Ruby W. Young went home to meet our Lord. She was the daughter of the late Reason and Alice West. Ruby was the youngest and last of 13 brothers and sisters that grew up on the Homestead in Crossville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Stoney G. Young.

Ruby worked for South Central Bell and Alltel telephone company, in Knoxville, TN and retired in 1987 after 30 years of service. Ruby was a long-time member of Ball Road Baptist Church and didn't know a stranger. Prior to her stroke 8 years ago she had a great love of traveling and traveled the country, you could see her spending time with friends in Florida or on a cruise around the Caribbean. After her stroke 8 years ago life for her slowed down and eventually, she became a welcoming face at the diner that bears her name in Oliver Springs.

Ruby is survived by her (3) children, Clyde (JoAnn) Young, Jo Ann (Steve) Hackler, & Steven (Danielle) Young. She also has a combined (7) grandchildren LJ & Molly Morgan, Miles & Shelby Baker, Amber & Daniel Hall, & Tiffany Young as well as (13) great-grandchildren. Ruby's family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Berry Highland West Funeral Home, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN. Graveside service and entombment will be Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in the Berry Highland West Cemetery. Fond memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.berryhighlandwest.com.
