He was preceded in death by his parents Jay Pearly Swann and Hilda Swann, grandparents Samuel Stinnett and Sally Stinnett, brother Billy Swann, special cousin Rodger Steven Stinnett, and many other dear family members who went on before him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years Bertie Lucinda Swann, sons Rodger (Dorothy) Swann and Brian Swann, brothers Floyd Swann, James Swann, and Jason Swann, sisters Wanda Long, Barbara Edmonds, and Jaetta Hutchens, special aunt Wanda Stinnett, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
He joined the Marine Corps at age 17 where he served for four years. He was a lifelong licensed barber and operated his own barber shop for over five years. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 34 years of service. He enjoyed watching Western movies and piddling around in the garage, but most of all, Bob was happiest spending time with his family and always unconditionally supporting his sons in their endeavors.
Special thanks to Dr. Esha Cannon, Darrell Hull APN, and the staff of Thompson Cancer Survival Center and Covenant Health Homecare and Hospice for their care and compassion.
The family will receive family and friends from 4-7pm Tuesday, October 1st at Berry Highland South Chapel with the service immediately to follow officiated by Pastor John Justice. Family and friends will meet at 3pm Wednesday, October 2nd at Berry Highland South Cemetery for the graveside service and interment. Condolences may be offered at www.berryhighlandsouth.com
