Reba Inklebarger Haynes passed away on May 1, 2024 at the age of 100 years old. Preceded in death by Joe R. Haynes, Jr., her husband of 67 years; infant son, James Randall; son, Jody Haynes; and daughter-in-law, Judy Campbell Haynes.
Reba is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Mike) Murdaugh of Knoxville; grandchildren, Ashley Duckett (Matt Duckett), David (Tara) Blank, Samantha (Daniel) King and Clark Haynes; Great grandchildren, Evan, Seth and Trey Duckett; Amelia, Emery and Addison Blank; Jackson King; special friend Henry Boerner.
Reba graduated from Central High School, where she was Sophomore Class President and Majorette; and Carson-Newman College, where she sang in the A Capella Choir and was Majorette. She worked at Division of Extension, U.T. Press and taught English one year at West High School. She was an active member, teacher, mentor, deacon and choir member at Central Baptist Church, Fountain City. Reba was elected President of The Auxiliary to the Knoxville Bar Association and member of Green Thumb Garden Club. Reba loved to write skits and song parodies for special events and to visit the sick and homebound. Reba and Joe hiked over 8,500 miles in the Smoky Mountains and other State and National Parks. They were members of the Smokies “900 Miles Club” and Thursday Hikers. Special thanks to staff and friends at Morning Pointe Assisted Living Powell, UT Hospice and Sacred Ground Hospice Facility.
Receiving of friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7th at Central Baptist Church on Broadway; Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm. Rev. Ron Mouser and Rev. Jeff McMurray will officiate. There will be a private graveside at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Central Baptist Church, Fountain City at 5364 Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37918.
