Pat was an Administrator of the Building America program at ORNL National Lab for many years. She worked at “the lab” for more than forty years, rising through the ranks to achieve one of the highest levels of management. Pat traveled extensively in her position, giving seminars and instruction on sustainable building techniques and materials. She worked closely with her counterparts in the Department of Energy in Washington, DC, when she traveled there regularly to collaborate on the newest systems and materials available.
After retirement, Pat continued to travel for pleasure with her husband, Don, and friends. After Don passed away she traveled less, but still thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with friends and family. Recently, her little dog “Sami” kept her entertained and occupied as only a puppy will do.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Dorothy Miller, of Harriman, TN; her brother, Kenny Miller, of Harriman; and also her husband, Don, of Knoxville, TN. She is survived by brother, Ron Miller and wife Angela; sisters, Debi Hoppenjans and husband Bill, and Jan Steward and husband Robert; as well as nieces and nephews, Nick and Laura Hoppenjans and spouses, Alison and Jamie Steward and spouses, and Sara Miller and spouse; along with many great nieces and nephews.
A gathering of friends and family for Pat will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, Tennessee 37932. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local animal shelter or the American Diabetes Association in her name.
