Mary Ellen Smith

Mary Ellen Smith, 91, went peacefully to be with the Lord Jesus on Thursday, January 3, 2019. She is a beloved member of the Temple Baptist Church in Powell, Tennessee and was a faithful member of Beechland Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Mary retired after 40 years of service in patient resources from Woodhaven Medical Center and St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Preceded in death by her parents, Everett Bryant Cromer and Nellie Purkhiser Cromer; husband of 46 years, Jack Board Smith; sisters, Edith Loyd, Olive Loyd, Lucy Jones, Betty Roberts; brother, John S. Cromer. Survived by daughter, Paulette Smith Cromer Deeringer and son-in-law Dennie; son, Dale La Roy Smith II; grandchildren, Pollie Ellen Deeringer, Dale La Roy Smith III and wife Keely, Emma Laura Smith; and great-grandson, Lochlan Rhys Smith; and her loving nieces and nephews and their families.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Temple Baptist Church in Powell, Tennessee, in the Curtis Hutson Center Chapel. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 PM. Ministers James Zenker and Roger Hilliard will officiate the service. Burial will take place after a 2:00 PM Graveside Service on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem, Indiana.
