Mary Sloan, 96, died Thursday, February 20, 2015 at Shannondale HealthCare Center. She was born on April 5, 1918 in Ehrenfeld, Pennsylvania to William Patrick Sloan and Eva (Tunnicliffe) Sloan. She graduated from Centerville High School, married Carl Ugulini, and lived in Fredericktown, Pennsylvania and Bedford, Ohio before moving to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1979. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge and the Oak Ridge Senior Center. She travelled throughout the United States, visited several countries in Europe and even made the journey to Australia and New Zealand. On the rare occasions she was at home, she filled her time with crafts and following a variety of sports teams, especially the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Survivors include her daughters, Carol Grathwol (D.Eugene) of Knoxville, Tennessee; Elaine Sloan (D. John Hudson) of Fairfax, Virginia, and Joan Canzonetta of Apopka, Florida; grandchildren Kirk Grathwol, Karyn Grathwol, Lara Spaller(Stephen), James Canzonetta (Michelle); great grandchildren Samuel Spaller, Mathilde Spaller, Anthony Canzonnetta and Dean Canzonetta. Memorial contributions may be made to Shannondale HealthCare Center in Knoxville, where she received outstanding care for the last seven years.
