Mark was born of October 20, 1970 in South Bend, Indiana. After graduating Riley High he went on to Purdue University to receive an M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee, Martin. He was a Boilermaker and Vol for life.
Mark’s children, Emily and Garret, were his greatest joy in life. He worked hard to ensure they were afforded every opportunity to achieve their dreams and he was so proud of them.
Mark was employed at ORNL in computer programming where he left a legacy of hard work and duty.
Mark married his longtime sweetheart, Kristen Morelli Cantrell on November 22, 2022. The following day, Mark received his cancer diagnosis. While their marriage was short, the love they shared was incredibly strong. Mark and Kristen were the epitome of love and partnership. Even in his final days, Mark found humor in teasing Kristen, Rita, and the kids that he plans to ‘haunt’ them.
Mark enjoyed spending time with friends and family, tinkering around the house, and cooking meals for his wife and children. He was loved by all who crossed his path.
Mark was preceded in death by his father just last year. He is survived by his wife, Kristen Cantrell; mother, Rita Cantrell (Harold); children, Emily Cantrell and Garret Cantrell; mother of his children and life long friend, Jennifer Hruska Cantrell and countless friends who loved him as family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Lilly Pad Hopyard Brewery at 12pm. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Mark's medical expenses which can be found at Go Fund Me.
