Lucy was a believer in Jesus Christ and, from childhood onward, a member of Forest Grove Church. Throughout her years there she was often referred to as “Mama Lucy” as she taught Sunday School and worked with the Youth Group, VBS, and the Women’s Auxiliary. While her favorite callings were being a wife and mother, she enjoyed giving time to her South Knoxville Community; retiring from New Hopewell Elementary School as a Teacher’s Aide and being on the board that helped establish the South Knoxville Senior Center.
Lucy is preceded in death by her husband, Glen “Red” Clark; parents, Vernie and Estelle Gibson; grandson, Jonathan Clark; brothers, Hubert Gibson, Bill Gibson, Gene Gibson and sister, Hazel Boling.
She is survived by her sons, Terry Clark and Randy Clark; daughters; Sandra Millsaps (Bobby) and Lora Clark; grandchildren, Brittany Mitchell (Daniel), Ben Clark (Ivy), Jessica Vandagriff (Brandon), and Jordan Clark (Jennifer); great-grandsons, Oliver Vandagriff and William Clark; sister, Mayme Case; brother, Clarence Gibson (Carolyn); sister-in-law, Brenda Gibson; Many beloved nieces and nephews. Of special mention are several cherished lifelong friends.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Forest Grove Cemetery, 7220 Forest Grove Circle, Knoxville, TN 37920 for a 2pm Graveside Service with Pastor Kevin Anderson officiating. Pallbearers: Randy Clark, Christopher Case, Greg Gibson, Johnny Houser, Daniel Mitchell, and Brandon Vandagriff.
