Lewis "Cotton" Edward Townsend

Lewis Edward “Cotton” Townsend , age 84, of Seymour went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Lewis was the best husband, daddy, and papaw anyone could ever ask for. His love for his family was unlike any other. Lewis loved life and truly had a servant’s heart. He served his community through his generosity and the way he ran his business. Lewis owned and operated numerous garages with wrecker service for over 50 years. The Lord’s love and generosity shined through everything he continuously did for others. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Townsend; son, Michael Townsend; parents Joseph and Ruth Townsend; brothers Bob, Jim, JD, and Harry Townsend; and sister Rhonda Townsend.

Lewis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ed Dodgen; daughter-in-law, Teresa Townsend; sisters Johnnie Robinson and Imogene Beavers; grandchildren, Whitney and Logan Blaylock, Lindsay and Corey Whitted, Heather, Chasney, and Ashlyn Townsend, and several great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Freedom Senior Living Center for their loving attention as they cared for and helped Lewis this past year and during his recent passing.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Friday, August 30th at Berry Highland South Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastors David Gibson and Larry Gilmore officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 31st, at Berry Highland South Cemetery, 9010 E. Simpson Road, Knoxville, TN.
