Larry Carl Stover, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Park West Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. A devoted family man and faithful servant of Christ, Larry lived a life full of love, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors.
Larry was born on October 8th, 1944 in Beckley, West Virginia, to William Carl and Freeda Mae Stover. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School before earning his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and then master’s degree from Marietta College. In 1964, Larry married the love of his life, Beulah, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and shared adventures.
Larry had a distinguished career as a chemical engineer in the plastics industry, working in research and development. After retiring in 2004, he embraced his passion for the outdoors, spending countless hours hunting, fishing, and exploring the woods. Larry and Beulah often embarked on hunting and fishing trips, returning home with stories that delighted their family. He always made an effort to be present for his grandchildren’s events and enjoyed trips with the extended family.
A man of deep faith, Larry was a member of Salem Baptist Church and recently attended Washington Presbyterian Church. He lived in WV, TN, NC, and GA and served his congregations as a deacon, treasurer, financial counselor, and teacher and shared his love for Christ in every aspect of his life. His faith inspired everyone he met and left a lasting legacy.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William Carl and Freeda Mae Stover, and his brother, Bobby Dean Stover.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Beulah Stover; their children, Lee (Ken) Wiant of Knoxville, TN; Robert (Hien) Stover of Ooltewah, TN; and Wayne Stover of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Kyle Stover of Denver, CO; Julia Wiant of Knoxville, TN; and Faith Stover of Ooltewah, TN. Additionally, Larry leaves behind his sisters, Virginia Stover of Daniels, WV; Cinda Guy of Maple Fork, WV; and Linda Hill of Witcher Creek, WV; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Larry spent the last six months of his life at South High Senior Living where he made many friends and developed close relationships with the staff. The family would like to thank all of the staff that assisted them in caring for Larry over the past months.

A visitation for Larry will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, 2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918. A graveside service will occur Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918.
