Kathryn G Greene Word

Word, Kathryn G., age 84, of South Knoxville, passed away August 24, 2014. She was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church and a graduate of Knoxville High School. She enjoyed politics and was campaign manager for several local races. Preceded in death by husband, Knox County Judge, L.D. Word; parents, William H. and Louise Jones. Survived by daughters, Lisa Word Bell and husband Henry, and Mary Louise Madsen; grandchildren, Anthony K. White, Angela M. Chandler, Michael T. Madsen, Kayla K. Cook, Kendell E. Allen, Koral E. Cook; great-grandchildren, Alyssa White, Zya White, Phoenix Madsen, Teagen Minton, and Adlynn White. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Tennova Homecare Hospice and Tennova Home Health. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37909, or the Humane Society of The Tennessee Valley, 6717 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. The funeral service will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in the Berry Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Charlie McNutt and Rev. Phil Groos officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the service. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery.
