Preceded in death by parents, Gordon Author Bright and Lucy Jane Clifton; husband, James Avery Sexton; daughter, Rosemary Ann Sexton; sisters, Peggy Bright, Bonnie Hackworth, Mary Lou Griffin, Helen Bright, Margaret Bright and Helen Noe; brothers, James Bright, Leon Bright, Charles Bright and Gordon Bright.
She is survived by her children, James Michael Sexton and wife, Holly Sexton, Sharon Zahnen, Teresa Ferguson, Kimberly Hill and husband Roger Hill. Grandchildren, Chuck Lively and wife Kristina Lively, Katie Davis, Vanessa Badgett, Robbie Badgett, Jason Sexton, and Sam Sexton. Great grandchildren, Isaac Moretz ,Avery Lively, Kingston Moretz, Tyson Lively, Evelyn Badgett, Vance Davis, Lanee Sexton, Kailee Sexton, and one great-great grandson, Mateo Moretz. Special friend Kayla Palmer. Surviving sisters, Betty Martin, and Shirley Metcalf, and surviving brother Alvin Bright. In addition, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and loving neighbor Shirley.
Katherine was a loving mother and mamaw. She spent her life caring for children in her home as if they were her own. Her past time was gardening and canning, and cooking for the family (she made some mean biscuits and gravy and pies) and spending time with family. She had a love for anything UT sports and loved wearing orange and white to church every Sunday.
She was a faithful member of New Beverly Baptist Church and sang in the choir. She loved her family, her church family and GOD with all her heart.
The family will receive friends at 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Saturday, July 10th, 2021 at New Beverly Baptist Church, 3320 New Beverly Church Road, Knoxville, Tennessee, with Pastor Eddie Sawyer officiating. A funeral service will follow at 7:00pm. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, July 11th, 2021, at 1:00pm where family and friends will meet in the cemetery at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee.
