“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2Timothy 4:7 Karen Leigh (Watkins) Glass of Knoxville, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 after a courageous two-year battle with glioblastoma. Her strength as she fought this cancer was beyond words. Karen was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Homer and Wilmouth Thomerson and Charles and Thelma Watkins. Survivors include her loving husband of 24 years, Dennis; her beloved son, Seth; father, Richard Watkins (Cindy) of Big Stone Gap, VA; mother, Elizabeth Beverly (Creed) of Knoxville, TN; sister Lynne Peaks (Tony) of Bowling Green, KY; twin sister, Sharon Browder (Henry) of Kingsport, TN; sister, Lisa Daves (Bill) of Dallas, TX and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Karen was born in Kannapolis, NC on October 25, 1960. After living in several states during her childhood, she graduated from Powell Valley High School and Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap, VA. Karen began her work career at Penn Virginia Corporation before settling in Knoxville, TN where she worked in many capacities for Waste Connections for 26 years. Karen was considered an invaluable and irreplaceable employee by her supervisors and co-workers. Karen loved being with her family, cheering for her son at his many sporting events, decorating her home, beautifying her yard, antiquing, enjoying a good laugh, and spending time with her best friend, Cami. Karen was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her love for her family and friends was beyond measure and she will be missed immensely. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 7:00pm. A private graveside service will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
