John Paul "J.P." Dech, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on April 30, 2021 at the age of 55 from a heart attack due to complications of the Covid-19 virus. John worked for Centriworks/Thermocopy for 25 years as a technician for multifunction devices in the East Tennessee area. He enjoyed technology, including computers, and developed a connection to the world of Star Trek, first as an attendee and dealer, and later as a host of conventions. He was always proud he got to meet so many celebrities. John was also a huge fan of the Tennessee Volunteers football team, and an avid chicken wing and beer connoisseur. John was always happy to help others in any way he could. He will be remembered as a loving father and a great friend.
John was preceded in death by parents, Robert Edward and Ella Mavis Dech. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his sons, James Edward and Matthew Taylor Dech; step-son, Sean Michael Jaynes; brothers, Dana (Harriett) Dech, Bobby (Donna) Dech, Dave (Deanna) Dech; cousin, Stacy Watson and Bill Henry; special friends, Ron Porter, Brian (Patricia) Prince; mother of his children, Heather Aberdeen; and other extended family and friends.
His family will host a Visitation at Berry Highland South, 9010 E. Simpson Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920, on Friday, May 7th from 10:00am-11:00am. The Graveside Service will follow at Berry Highland South Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 8th from 2:00-4:00pm at Big Kahuna Wings, 7804 Montvue Center Way, Knoxville, TN 37919.
