John Wesley Coker Jr.

John Wesley Coker Jr., age 94, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. John was born July 7, 1927. John retired from the U.S. Air Force, KUB, Dollywood, and IATSE Local 197. He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. John enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a longtime member of the Masons and Local 197, where he spent over 50 years.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Marguerite (Oakes) Coker; son, John Stephen Coker; and brothers, Louis Coker and Bill Coker. He leaves behind his children: Carrol (Ron - Deceased) Purkey, Gregory (Donna - Deceased) Coker, Jeffrey (Kim) Coker, Melanie (Kris) Miller; grandchildren: Stephen Jr., Danny, Wesley, Shawn, Donavan, Aaron, Marie, Angela, Lisa, Gregory, Jr., Matthew, and Brittany; 22 great-grandchildren; as well as special friend, Virginia McNutt.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 AM Monday, May 23, 2022 at Berry Funeral Home to proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment.
