Arnett, James “Jim” Edward, III, age 67, of Knoxville passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014. Jim was a long-time member of Meridian Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Director, choir member and a member of Adult III Couple’s Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1078 and the 278th ACR Retiree’s Association. Before his retirement, he taught at Doyle and South Doyle Middle Schools for 38 years. Jim will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and soldier. He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Lib Arnett. Jim is survived by: his loving wife of 42 years Debra Lewis Arnett; children William and his wife Sarah, and Emily and her husband Allan; and grandchildren: Audrey, Ada Scott, Dante, Alicyn, Paul, Mark, and Merritt; sister, Suzie and husband Scott Frei; brother, Allen and wife Rita Arnett. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29th, 2014 from 4-7 PM at Meridian Baptist Church, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Dana Fachman and Rev. Mark Knisley officiating. Family and friends will meet on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the East Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery, 2200 East Gov. John Sevier Highway for an 11:30 AM interment service. Full military honors will be provided by the Tennessee Army National Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Music and Pavilion Funds at Meridian Baptist Church, 6513 Chapman Highway Knoxville, TN 37920.
