Jessie Veldia Wright

Wright, Jessie Veldia Hooper, age 89, passed away on Tuesday January 14, 2014. She was born December 20, 1924 in Cleveland, Georgia. She was a member of Island Home Baptist Church, and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Veldia was preceded in death by: her parents Thomas Barney and Carrie Belle Hooper; husband of 51 years James Barton Wright; and 12 brothers and sisters. Survivors include: sons James Barney (Anita) Wright, of Pigeon Forge, Charles Thomas (Julie) Wright, of Butte, Montana; daughter Deborah Wright (Greg) Knox of Knoxville; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Parkwest Hospital, as well as the nurses and staff at Ben Atchley State Veteran’s Home for their kind and compassionate care. The family will receive friends on Friday January 17th from 1-2 PM at Island Home Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM, Rev. Mark Braddom officiating. The interment will be in Island Home Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Berry Funeral Home is serving the family.
