WASHAM, JAMES MAYNARD - age 81, of South Knoxville, passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 1, 2014. James was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Washam and son, Michael Washam. He is survived by sons, James (Cindy) Washam and Maynard (Debbie) Washam; daughters, Carolyn Garner, Bertha (Lonnie) Smith, Teresa (James Shinliver) Nichols, and Elaine (Rex) Whaley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette (Howard) McClain and Betty Tipton; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Blessed Hope Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 1:00pm. Friends and family will follow in procession to Woodlawn Cemetery for a graveside service immediately following the funeral service. Rev. Norman Smelcer and Rev. Maynard Washam will be officiating.
