James "Rick" Richard King, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday July 15, 2023. Rick was born and raised in South Knoxville. He was a dirt track and nascar enthusiast . Rick enjoyed fishing and spending time at Daytona Beach. During his time at Nascar he traveled the United States as part of the Pit Crew, and in his past time he raced officiated at the dirt tracks in the different states. Rick was a fabricator/welder building dirt/drag cars. He enjoyed going to locally owned restaurants while traveling. Rick will always be fondly remembered by his friends, family, City employees and the Knoxville Fire Dept.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and special dog, Champ.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Missy King; son, Jacob King (Kelsey); father, Dan King; mother, Imogene King; mother-in-law, Judith Stindt; special cousin, David Long; many other cousins; extended family and dogs: Luey, Neoli, Brewer. Rick had many special friends which he considered family.
The family will honor Rick's request by having no Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Rick King.
