Those who knew J.D., knew of his love and dedication to his faith, family, and country. He was extremely proud to have served his country in the Navy and he worked tirelessly to provide the best life possible for his family. He was a faithful Christian and member of Community Bible Church in Farragut.
J.D. was born in Clarksville, TN in 1942 and moved to Oak Ridge before he was one. He was a graduate of Karns High School in 1960 and entered the Navy immediately following his graduation. He served four years in the Navy as a 2nd Mate Aircraft Electrician.
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, J.D. worked as an electrician and supervisor at the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Oak Ridge for thirty-three years before retiring in 2002. While employed at K-25, he also worked as an electrician at night and on weekends wiring houses throughout the Karns community.
He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Paula Forsythe; parents, David and Georgia Forsythe; brothers, Harry and Joe Forsythe; sister, Deloris Dyer; parents-in-law, Frank and Helen Owenby; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Lorene Sprouse.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Joyce Forsythe; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Steve Clark; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Karen Forsythe; grandchildren, Dylan and Tristan Clark; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Wanda Forsythe; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Jim Fultz, sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Gene Lamb; sisters-in-law, Judy Forsythe and Phyllis Forsythe; and many wonderful nephews/nieces and their families.
The family will receive friends at Weaver Funeral Home on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 pm with a service at 7:00 pm with Reverend Larry Day officiating. The graveside service will be at Greenwood Cemetery on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11:00 am.
