James Herman Doane

James (Herman) Doane, Sr., age 85 of Blaine, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023. He was a member of the Mascot Masonic Lodge #738 F&AM; also a member of Kerbela Shriners in Knoxville. Herman retired after many years with George W. Reagan Construction Co. He was a lifelong Democrat, a Ford man, a member of Smokey Mountain Fly Wheelers and enjoyed farming and socializing.

Herman was preceded in death by wife, Jenny Lynn (Joyce) Doane; granddaughter, Melynda; parents, E.A. and Chassie (Reynolds) Doane; several brothers and sisters.

Survived by daughter, Diane McNew; son, Bocus (Tammy) Doane; 2 grandchildren, Genna McNew and Jacob (Chelcea) Doane; 5 great-grandchildren, Brilee Hayes, Cooper McNew, Carter Nelson, Marlee Doane and Carlee Doane; brother, W.C (Elaine) Doane; special nephew, David (Nina) Doane; several nieces, nephews, family and several special friends. A sincere thank you to U.T. Hospice for all their care during a difficult time.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, 2023 from 6-8:00 pm at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Highway. Family and friends will meet Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Eastview Memorial Gardens for a 12:30 pm graveside service, Rev. Henry Greer officiating.
