James Anthony Captain, age 51, of Knoxville entered his eternal rest on Monday, April 18, 2022. He was born in Knoxville Tennessee on September 10, 1970. While earning his bachelor’s degree for Psychology at the University of Tennessee, he worked at the family restaurant business, Sam and Andy’s. After graduation, James pursued his career in Neuro-Physiology for some 20 years. James had many interest including; hunting, electronics and computers, watching action and comedy movies and repairing just about anything he could get his hands on. He had an unconditional love for his children, grandchildren and his Boston terrier, Maxwell.
James is preceded in death by his grandparents; Antonio and Maria Kapetanopoulos (John) and Narcissus and Lucille Helmacki (Carol). He is survived by his parents John and Carol Captain, sister; Mariah Davila (Robert), nephews; Yanni and Periclis, daughters; Hope and Christina Captain and their fiancées’ Chap and Cameron, Son; Anthony Captain, grandchildren; Cash and Zephyr, Uncle/brother Stan Helmacki and friend, Jennifer Fritz; Mother of James' children, Tiffany Jarrett.
A visitation for James will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 10 to11am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Kingston Pike with a funeral service to follow at 11am. A graveside service will be held at 1pm at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, 5315 Kingston Pike.
James served as an alter boy and in lieu of flowers the family asks a donation be made to Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in his name.
