Imogene was a dedicated Wife, Mother, Mamaw, and MoMo and cherished every moment with her family. She was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church and a founding member of Burnetts Creek Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her family and devoted her life to them. She enjoyed planting and gardening in her beautiful flowers and listening to the sweet hymns of the birds in her yard. Imogene was the perfect example of a Proverbs 31 woman: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Many women do noble things, but you surpassed them all.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Sidney McNutt; parents Robert and Edith Gibson; sisters, Freida McCarter, Lois Smith, Charlotte Cannon, and Mary Lewelling; brothers, Bob Gibson and Jimmy Gibson; son-in-law Sam Hance.
Imogene is survived by her children, Kathy Hance, Debbie (Ron) Lewelling, Bradley (Maria) McNutt; grandchildren, Azure (Drew) Kitts, and Benjamin McNutt; great-grandchild, Mila Kitts; sisters, Dot McNutt, Glenda Johnson, Barbara Brink, and Pat Gibson; brothers, Michael Gibson and Ricky Gibson.
The family will receive friends from 5 -7pm Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Berry Highland South Funeral Home in the Magnolia Chapel with a celebration of life service to follow at 7pm., Rev. Jimmy Miller officiating. Pallbearers are Riley Beets, Chris Crowder, Drew Kitts, Benjamin McNutt, Brad McNutt, Tony Moore, and Matthew Neff. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Cannon and Ron Lewelling. Interment service will be at 11am Thursday, May 11, 2023 in the The Gospels garden at Berry Highland South Cemetery, 910 E. Simpson Road, Knoxville, TN 37920.
