Helen Agnes Caldwell

Helen Agnes age 94 passed away peacefully with her son Coy by her side on Sunday, December 10, 2023. She was born July 8, 1929 to Harry and Violet Vars Gormley of Maryville, TN. Helen was a devoted member of Meridian Baptist Church in Knoxville. She had a long career as a machine operator for stripping and printing forms and financial documents. Helen took pride in her family and community advocating for the South Knoxville Community Center and various public works in Vestal. She was a passionate gardener and loved working puzzles with her good friend Gene Rimmer along with basket weaving, ceramics and baking cookies and candy. Helen loved to crochet and donated more than 100 afghans to the home bound at her church. She treasured her time volunteering and learning at the O'Conner Senior Center. Helen was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Violet Vars Gormley; husband, Edgar E. Caldwell; daughter-in-law, Colleen D. Flannery. She is survived by sons, Coy Caldwell and Hoey (Jerry ) Caldwell; granddaughter, Melissa (Chris) Caldwell-Weddig; great-granddaughter, Ruby A. Weddig; sister, Alleen Powlus. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 12-2 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home 3704 Chapman Hwy. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating.
