I am a retired architect, but straight out of college in 1980 I went to work for Jim Geiger as an electrical designer on the 1982 World's Fair project. I worked with Hazel for 3 years before becoming Ruby Tuesday's architect. Good days. Especially because of her. Hazel ran that office like a machine. Whatever money Jim Geiger made, and it was serious money, in the years she was employed there was entirely because of her. I noticed that the obit stated she was "an electrical design draftsman," but this very much understates her abilities and discipline. She did very little drafting because she was too valuable a designer. She was the best electrical designer I have ever known. She was so prolific and efficient that the office had to hire 3 draftsmen just to draft her designs. Though we all know how accomplished she was as an artist, few realize that she was gifted mathematically as well. She also demonstrated an aptitude for management. Managing the activities of 6 or 7 immature pseudo-adults was much like herding cats, but she kept us all productive. She did not suffer fools, but she had a wisdom and a grace that drew respect from all of us. We managed to stay in touch till Covid. Miss her a lot.

Dear Richard and Jennifer, 
I am not going to write about the loss of Hazel, the painful loss... instead I am going to celebrate her and Charlie because they are very alive in my memory, and thinking of them fills me with joy and affection. 
In 1997 we bought the house on Farland Drive and became the neighbors of Charlie and Hazel. We invited them for a tea, and we had such a nice time that I started visiting them at weekends bringing with me my little daughter, a toddler. They became the grandparents for Esmeralda and my close friends. 
Little by little they learned a lot about our  lives, our jobs, my Italian family, David's trip, so much so that Hazel often told me that she did not like it when I was leaving for long periods in the 
summer, she was missing me! 
I admired the way they loved each other, they were happy together and they had a nice full life, golf, bridge, painting, friends... 
I was happy for them, I wanted to take a painting class with Hazel  but never could, she was not only a very gifted painter, but her students adored her, she was an inspiration for me. I was able to get a couple of her paintings and every time I look at them I smile, besides the beauty of the scenery, of the colors, the serenity that transpires from her works make me smile, and fill me with joy. I think of Hazel and Charlie as two exceptional human beings that lived a long full life loving each other,  their families and anybody else that came in contact with them. They embraced life. I want to celebrate them because having frequented them through over 20 years has been a privilege and a honor.   Love, Flavia

It was a true pleasure to care for hazel in her final months of this life. I felt truly blessed to get to know her and her loved ones. We shared some very good times and even  laughed together. I loved her pretty blue eyes . She was a dainty ,strong and talented woman who liked to keep her fingernails painted. Her mind and body grew tired and she transitioned from this world into Heaven. It was a privilege Mrs. Hazel. Rest in peace.
