Hazel Marjorie Cotter Thompson

Hazel Marjorie Cotter Thompson was born on December 22, 1922, in Wears Valley, TN. Hazel was called to Heaven on January 28, 2022, at the age of 99. She raised her family in South Knoxville and was a member of Galilee Baptist Church. Among her many hobbies were quilting, gardening, and bird watching. There were ample baked goods around the holidays, and she was always ready for a good game of cards, bingo, Rummikub, Sequence and shuffleboard. We often had to remind her to let someone else win.

Hazel is preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifford H. Thompson, and sons, Derry and Wayne Thompson. She leaves to cherish her memory several grandchildren: Tony Thompson, Tim (Rhondae) Thompson, Stephanie (Bill) Powers, Rick (Ronny) Thompson, Ginger (Chris) Smelcer, and Amber (Jon) Bell. Hazel was blessed to have several great-grandchildren to pass down her many cookie recipes to: Dakota Steele, Ashton Black, Tylor Gann, Derri Thompson, Reed Bell and Leah Smelcer.

The family welcomes friends for a Visitation Service on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Berry Highland South, from 5pm-7pm, with a Funeral Service to follow starting at 7pm. Family and friends will meet at Berry Highland South Cemetery on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 12:45pm for a 1pm Graveside Service. Condolences are welcome BerryHighlandSouth.com.
