Glena Thomasson

Had there been a more loving wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and animal lover, her family members never found one. "Polly", as she was mostly called, was a proud graduate of Mars Hill (N.C.) College. Yet that was just the beginning.

Polly dearly loved and was devoted to her family, especially her children: Betty Durham (husband Roy), Glenda Russell (husband Joe), Jack Thomasson (wife JoAnne), and Roger Thomasson. The outpouring of kindness and support throughout her life from them was a clear sign that they dearly loved her.

Polly was preceded in death by her first daughter Polly Anna Thomasson, who was lost at childbirth yet never forgotten, husband T.J. Thomasson and twin sister Gladys "Patsy" Hawkins.

Polly had five children, seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. With a family so big, it was understandable that she would sometimes forget her grandchildren's names, to their great amusement. All of her grandchildren know her well because at some time in each of their lives, she was the baby-sitter they were all too lucky to have.

Her grandchildren and spouses will all miss her deeply. They are Fred and Lori Durham, Elizabeth and Westley Green, Dave and Chanda Hooker, Tracy and Shawn Hodge, Tom and Isabell Thomasson, Jason and Nicole Thomasson, Elisa and Jonathon Amspacher, Sara and Steven Cain, Carrie and Matt Brunger.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lynnhurst/Greenwood Chapel. There will be a private burial Friday, May 23. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Living Word Ministries, 9545 AL Hwy 79, Scottsboro, AL 35768
