Gladys was a lifelong, loyal member of the Church of God-Union Assembly and loved her church family deeply.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond James and Blanche Myrtle Wheeler; husband, Don Whaley and brother, Harold Wheeler.
She is survived by brothers: Glen Wheeler, Michael Wheeler; step-daughter,Tammy; grandchildren: Cody and Dillon along with many loving nieces; nephews and several special friends.
Gladys retired from Lakeshore Mental Institution after many years of service. Gladys enjoyed retirement with her late husband Don Whaley. After Don’s passing, Gladys was looking forward to going home and being reunited with her loved ones. Gladys was a woman of great faith and will be missed by so many she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of God-Union Assembly at 3428 Keith Avenue, Knoxville ,TN. 37921. A Visitation will be held at Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Avenue, Knoxville, Monday, February 20, 2023 between the hours of 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a service to follow officiated by Pastor Allen Massengill. The family will meet at New Gray Cemetery on Western Ave. Tuesday, February 21, 2023 for a 2:00 pm Interment Service.
