George M. Robinson – Jefferson City – After a valiant battle with extreme Covid-19 and Pneumonia caused by Covid-19, George Micheal Robinson Sr. of Jefferson City, TN passed away on May 14th, 2022 at the age of 74. He was born May 9, 1948 in Knoxville, TN, the son of John and Mary (Fanizzi) Robinson of Knoxville, TN. He was the third son of 8 children.
George was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent two years in Vietnam where he received a Bronze Star for Valor. Upon his return, he became a proud member of the Sheet Metal Local #5 until his retirement in 2004. He married the love of his life, Frances Jean Long on October 2, 1971 and had two children from this union, Micheal Robinson Jr. and John Robinson.
George was active in Swann’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. George spent his retirement camping, riding his motorcycle, watching western & action movies, and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jean; son John (Lana) Robinson; granddaughter Aleya (Trevor) Drahem, grandchildren Michael and Megan; siblings Nancy (Steve) Griffin, Bill Robinson, Bobby (Debbie) Robinson; Brothers & Sisters in-law Judy Berry, Sue (Chuck) Ross, John (Betty) Long, Shelia (Mike) McGinnis; and multiple nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Micheal, brothers Nick Robinson and Sam Robinson, sisters Susie Browne and Cynthia Shinn, sister-in-law Faye Stout, brother-in-laws Cecil Berry, Alan Long and Kenny Stout.
Pallbearers are Matthew Berry, Steve Griffin, Jody Stout, Shay Thorn, Ryan Royston, Gerald Baker. Honorary Pallbearer is Chelsea Robinson.
Family welcomes friends for a Visitation Service at Berry Highland South on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 5pm-7pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 7pm. Family and friends will meet at Berry Highland South on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 9am for a procession to East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery for a Graveside Service at 10am.
