Frank Catlett Howard, Jr.

Frank C. Howard, Jr., age 92, died on March 29, 2018 at Little Creek Sanitarium in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born on March 3, 1926 to Frank C. Howard, Sr. and Lillian Spilman Howard. Frank was a graduate of Knoxville High School and attended the University of Tennessee. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II from 1944 - 1946. He spent his career in the insurance industry, retiring from Willis Corroon in 1997. Frank coached Little League baseball and led many successful teams at Bearden Little League Park. He was an active tennis player at the Knoxville Racquet Club for many years. Frank enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an avid Lady Vols basketball fan, attending five Final Four tournaments. He logged many miles walking the trails at Lakeshore Park, often with his brother, Lewis, and was a favorite of the dogs for his milkbone treats.

Frank is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Margie W. Howard, his first wife, Peggie M. Howard, and his two brothers, Lewis S. Howard and Benjamin S. Howard.

Frank leaves his four children: Chip Howard (Kecia Armstrong), Julie Howard (Ted Flickinger), Bruce Howard (Linda) and Margaret Howard Jourdan (Chris). He leaves grandchildren Jessica Howard Overton (David), Matthew Jourdan (Samantha), Michael Howard and Katie Jourdan. He has four great-grandchildren: Sullivan and Graham Overton and Maddox and Westin Jourdan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Rebecca M. Howard and several nieces and nephews.

The family is especially thankful for the staff and community at Little Creek for their compassionate care of our father. Thanks to them he was able to die "at home".

The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2 at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike. There will be a private family Graveside Service.
