Ella Mae "Ellie" Bise of Knoxville, TN passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. She was 87. Ellie was beautiful, smart, thoughtful and kind. She had a unique gift to make every person she knew feel special and was the funniest person in the room without even trying. She was an excellent cook who rarely sat down when company was over and almost never took her apron off. Ellie had a deep faith that grew even stronger during her daughter, Deedie Bise Luttrell’s battle with ovarian cancer. Ellie was a two time breast cancer survivor, bringing encouragement and positivity to many as she volunteered with the American Breast Cancer Society in the 80’s.
Ellie was a long time member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City. She was employed for eighteen years as a payroll clerk for TVA. After leaving TVA and enjoying a couple of years at home, she began a new career in credit unions, eventually becoming the manager of Knox County Employees Credit Union. Upon her retirement in 1997, she began filling her days with the many things she enjoyed. She was a member of the Happy Hikers, the Sew and Sews, and volunteered at Central Baptist. Most importantly, she was able to spend more time with the family and friends to whom she was devoted.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Bill Bise and daughter Deedie, and parents Zella Woods and Bill Mounger. She is survived by and deeply missed by her daughters, Robin Addis (Dale), Tracey Bise(Bill Graves), Jenny Snodgrass (Beau); grandchildren, Courtney, Katie, Mitch, Casey, Patrick, Molly, Jesse, Mei Grace, Elle, and Jackson; and 20 great-grandchildren: niece, Sandi, nephew, Mark; and brother-in-law, Bernard Poe.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Friday, March 3rd at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with a 7 pm funeral service to follow with Rev. Bob Robinson officiating.
