Dorothy Mae Sands

Dorothy Mae Sands took her heavenly flight on April 7th, 2025. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family and God with every fiber of her being. She could light up any room with her kind smile and charming sense of humor. She spent her life taking care of her loved ones. Dorothy was her family's foundation with her strength and perseverance. Her family will deeply miss her warm hugs, sweet laughter and wisdom to guide us in the right direction. We take comfort in knowing she’s in Heaven where she is smiling and rejoicing free of pain and suffering.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother Jannie Mae Sands, her step father Andy Sands, her father Johnny Houk and her brothers and lots of other family who left far too soon.

She is survived by her husband William “Riley” Sands, her two sons: Scott Dills and Johnny “David” Dockery (Veronica), her granddaughters: Kayla Dills, Miranda Maples, Brittany Dills, Hailey Dills and Oliviann Dockery, her great grandchildren: Aaliyah Maples, Trenten Freeman, Hadilee Freeman, Peyton Maples, Divinity Murrell, Brandon Murrell and Sienna Dills. Her sister Trula Houk and lots of other family and friends.

Dorothy will be laid to rest with a private service at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
