Doris Jean (Fraser) Moore

Doris Jean Fraser Moore, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died on August 29, 2024, surrounded by her children. Born June 14, 1936 in Sparta, Tennessee to Albert and Inez Fraser, she attended Tennessee Technological University where she met her husband, Robert Saylor Moore, Sr., while he was attending summer school. They were married the following June. Together they shared 62 years of devotion to each other and their family. Doris Jean and Robert went on many adventures and loved to travel with their children and close friends, visiting every continent, but it is their Christ-like servants’ hearts towards each other and those around them that are their greatest legacy. Doris Jean lead by example and taught her children to love everyone because all are made in the image of God, to err on grace instead of judgment, the power of a mother’s love and prayers, and the importance of family. Of her ten grandchildren, five of them were adopted, and she loved them all equally and with abandon.

Doris Jean was a long time member of Central United Methodist Church Builder’s class serving the church and its members in many ways over the years.

Doris Jean is now reunited in heaven with her husband, parents, and grandchildren, Matthew Moore, Maloy Dorman, and Elizabeth McBrayer. She is survived by her brother, Harry Fraser; children and their spouses Shari and Marshall Dorman, Robert Moore, Jr. and Ann Sartwell, and Laura and Brett McBrayer; grandchildren Hali Moreno (Ben), Clayton Dorman (Mara), Sofia Dorman, Dora Moore Siebold (Logan), Rebekah McBrayer Hedlund (Alek), James McBrayer (Katelyn), John McBrayer and Luke McBrayer; her great grandchildren Evie and Lila Moreno and Saylor and Hazel Siebold; and her special Sparta cousins who were like siblings.

The family would like to extend our love and gratitude to our mother’s devoted and meticulous caregivers Tiffany, Brenda, Tammie, Ange, Linda, Diane and Lily, as well as family friend, Kelly Johnston.

Receiving of friends will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10am at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow in procession to Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, Rev. Jimmy Sherrod officiating.
