Cindy was a graduate of South High, Class of 1966, Knoxville. She attended the University of TN before moving to Washington D.C. where she worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She returned to Tennessee and held several jobs over the years while raising a family, last of which was a school bus driver for Knox Co Schools. Cindy loved nature, was an artist and enjoyed painting. She was a strong advocate for animal welfare and loved her many pets. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Mildred McDowell.
She is survived by her children, Brandon W. Knight and spouse Diane, and Dara Hitson and spouse Jason; grandchildren, Lucas Hitson, Bryan Gribensk; great-grandson, Jacob Gribensk; siblings, Phillip K. McDowell, Wanda K. McDowell and cousin, Margaret Ann Wood.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 30, 2021 between the hours of 5:00-7:00pm in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville.
