Gilliland, Coy Lester went home to be with Jesus Sunday morning, February 26, 2012. He left this life from Tennova Residential Hospice where he received wonderful care; we want to say a special thank you to them. Coy was born May 27, 1914 in Lamar County, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruby Rebecca, son, Randy Coy, and an infant son. Coy was survived by his son Leon Gilliland (Nora) of Sweetwater, TN, three wonderful grandchildren; Rebecca McKinney (Tomm) of Greenbrier, TN, Rusty Gilliland (Tracey)of Lenoir City, TN, Rick Gilliland (Amy) of Powell, TN, Denise Gilliland of Knoxville, TN, and Jim Good of Bloomington, IL. Coy had eleven great grandchildren: Brooke Good (Josh), Petty Officer Brandon Good (Maegan), Bronson Good, Brielle Good, Victoria Gilliland, Cole Gilliland, Olivia Gilliland, Blake Gilliland, Brannon Robbins, Rebecca Rutherford, Rachael Gilliland, and one great, great grandchild, Mackenna Good. Coy retired from Alpha Portland Cement Co. in Birmingham, Al. He made his home in Knoxville, TN. He enjoyed gardening, his church family at Hilltop Baptist Church in Halls, and especially had much joy sharing time with his family.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm Wednesday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel. Funeral service 11 am Thursday with Rev. Timothy Day and Rev. Kyle Shell officiating.
