Charles "Buddy" Ben Mulkey Jr. passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024. He was a South High graduate, class of 1970, where he was in the chorus, key club, and ran track. Buddy proudly served in the U.S. Navy. In 1971, he married the love of his life, Virginia Mulkey. He enjoyed his time as the AYSO Commissioner for Seymour, coaching several seasons with his boys. Buddy sang for many gospel quartets, including The Prophets, Knoxville's Own Heartland Quartet, and most notably the new Kingdom Heirs.
Preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Mulkey; parents, Ben and Edith Mulkey; and grandson, Dawson Mulkey.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Mulkey King; sons, Christopher Mulkey (Jama) and Jeffrey Mulkey (Megan); grandchildren: Jodie King-Sharpe (Ryan), Jacob King (Taylor), Riley Evatt, Zadan Smith, MJ Smith; great-granddaughter, Lila Jane King; as well as many extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2024 in the parlors of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery at 2:15 PM for a 2:30 PM graveside service to follow the visitation, Mike Shuemaker officiating.
