Carolyn was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on March 28, 1945, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd and Lillian (Smith) Burnett. She graduated from Mount Morris High School with the Class of 1963. Carolyn worked at the local pharmacy as well in the retail industry. She also sold Mary Kay, Princess House and Tupperware. She was a wonderful mother to her four amazing children along with her step-children and always made sure her children went to school with a warm meal. In her later life, she met a wonderful man, Roger Garren, whom she loved dearly, as well as his children. The life they shared included traveling, especially to their second home in Michigan. Carolyn enjoyed scrapbooking, stamping and shopping. She could spend hours shopping for others. She also enjoyed getting manicures and pedicures. Carolyn was a cake decorator and loved to make Christmas cookies with her children. She was an avid coffee and tea drinker and she loved honey by the gallon. Carolyn enjoyed camping with her children and going trail riding on her motorcycle.
Left to cherish Carolyn’s memory is the love of her life, Roger Garren; children: Temple Melanson, Wayne (Vicki) Melanson, Matthew (Jennifer) Mooney, Candace (Michael) Smathers (Mooney); step- children; Henry, Nicholas (Valerie) and Matthew (Kaitlyn); 19 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Burnett; granddaughter, Ashlyn Mooney.
A visitation will be held for Carolyn on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 12pm - 2pm with a funeral service to follow at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Moore, SC on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 2pm.
